October 2005

The LORD provided food for over a dozen families and over 200 pieces of Christian literature and Bibles!  Our week went all too quickly!  What a joy to be grocery shopping...and giving it away!  The hardest barrier for us when giving anything away was the language. The pair of children above were so excited to help in handing out the literature.  They just wanted to be a part of what was going on.  Exactly what kind of cattle those are, we don't know!  They sure are stocky.

The LORD had opened a door for us to speak at two different Churches in Oradea.   We did a seminar from a study I wrote, "Because of Your Name...I Come Closer."   The people are hungry to learn more of God. Many came forward for prayer to experience more of God in their lives.

Time was gone before we knew it, but, our hearts remained with the people.  God has a way of doing that.  We have so much here in the States and at times you think you can't leave it, but, then God displaces your heart and all you know is that you are willing...with a calmness that's hard to put into words.  For more pictures click here .

For over two years we have been going in to a maximum secure facility for youth; offering Bible studies twice a week. These young men have been very special to us.  Every Christmas we went in with a full Worship Team to offer praise and worship, testimony and a great meal provided from local churches.  At various times through the year we went in with ice cream, cookies etc.  We offered videos on Biblical Archeology, various speakers and drama.  We loved that ministry.  In that period of time we also established friendships with the Staff.  It was difficult to say good-bye.

CAMINUL FELIX

The LORD called us to Caminul Felix for two years.  We knew of the farm through our missionary friends and the couple from Western New York who built the farm a few years ago.  Visiting Romania two years before, our hearts were drawn to helping the people.  We organized "Project Plenty" and provided for a small gypsy village, food and clothing.  We continued to help with various projects providing funding through Church groups for rent money, literature, clothing etc.

Our visit to the farm at Caminul Felix this past Oct. was a Divine Appointment!  With milk production low, the Creamery sitting idle and the overall health of the herd not where it could be; CF was looking for someone to help manage the farm.  Then...we drove up.

Marcel, CF's Director, said he wasn't supposed to have been there at that time.  But...he was...and so were we!  We had been so busy, having little time to ourselves when suddenly we realized we had a few short hours free that afternoon. So, we visited the farm.

We could sense the heart-felt desire of wanting the farm to grow.  To prosper. To provide more housing for more children.  As the three of us talked that afternoon and throughout the next morning, John and I knew what God was asking of us.

                     John & Marcel                    Creamery

I remember standing in the middle of the barn feeling so excited about coming, yet, wondering, "Can I leave my family, my friends, behind?"  All the while I pondered that question, an overwhelming calmness spread throughout my being.  And I knew, not that I understood how, but, I knew that I could.  Only God can do that for a person.

Returning home, we discovered that everyone we told about the offer to come and help CF on the farm, was happy for us. They didn't try to hold us back.  They said they would miss us, but, what we would be doing was a great opportunity.  We knew, that that too, was God.  He was taking care of "all" the details.  It would be a great training ground for us!

So, began our "faith walk".  Faith.  What is faith?

"It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.  It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see."                                                             Hebrews 11:1

Our faith is in the LORD and the plans He has for us.  He has opened the doors for our household things to be stored.  He brought Assist International to us, to provide an accounting of our contributions (also, making them tax-deductible).  He provided a way for some of our belongings to be shipped over...right to our door.  We shipped these items out two weeks ago.  We are walking by faith.  We want to be there.  He wants us there even more!

With John's life experience in dairy and the deep desires of us all, we are certain that the farm at CF will move forward and grow far above all of our expectations!  Looking back we can see how the LORD was preparing us just for such a move.  The farm on which John has been Dairy Herds Manager for four years taught him much on keeping the health of the animals.  Now, he has far more experience in the medical field which will be most helpful on this dairy.  Working in such a large business also, taught him to be a valuable team player.  He learned to place people where they worked best.

The vision is to grow from 100 cows to 300 to bring in more milk and meat for the full complex.  With this increase of milk production we will be able to put into operation their Creamery.  This will give an opportunity for the older children to learn business skills and operations as well as supply products for the facility.  As the farm expands, its ultimate goal is to expand the housing for more orphans.  What a great opportunity to be part of this ministry!  We have agreed to a stay of two years.

In addition to the farm we will be seeking other ministry in and around Oradea.  For the last 6 years we have had various opportunities in reaching and teaching people about Jesus Christ.  From the streets of NYC, rescue missions, writing, speaking and teaching in small groups and large church settings, the LORD is now moving us onto the mission field.

There's a need in Romania and God has asked us to help fill it.  What we have here doesn't measure to what they need there.  There's no comparison.  We're going...won't you come along through us?  Together we can make an impact on Romania for Jesus...one heart at a time.  You can learn how to partner with us here .
